These heaters are designed to fit behind the mirror of GSO RC-8, RC-10 and RC-12 Ritchey Chretien telescopes. It is a flexible, split ring design, which makes it very easy to install. It fits onto the back of the secondary mirror housing and is held in place by silicone glue (user provided).
The Heater is thermally insulated with 1/8" (3mm) thick neoprene sponge foam. The foam is bonded to the heater. The foam will help the heater to direct the heat into the secondary mirror housing and aid in preventing excessive heat loss into the atmosphere and giving better heater performance.

These heaters are designed to fit behind the mirror, inside the cell. If your mirror cannot be removed from the cell, or the cell is designed in such a way as to prevent a heater from being inserted behind it, you will not be able to use this heater.

We have heaters to fit RC mirrors from 12.5" to 18" in diameter. These heaters will only work with flat backed optics (not conical back mirrors). Please see the table below for more specifications.
These are installed behind the mirror in between the mirror and the mirror cell and are held in place by putting a thin skim of silicone glue onto the heater and allowing the heater to dry to the back of the mirror. We do not recommend using heaters that would wrap around the outside of the optic as the thickness of a primary mirror make this ineffective due to the mirror mass. It is much better and much more effective to heat a primary mirror from behind.
RCP-12 will fit 12.5" to 14" mirrors, RCP-14 is for 14.25" to 18" primary mirrors.
These heaters can be used with a temperature sensor with our Premier Digital Dew Controller (#2002) or our DigiFire-10 Controller (#2001-10) for accurate optic temperature control or with any of our controllers in duty cycle mode.
