These batteries include top quality Schurter circuit breakers on all outputs, a Datel digital volt meter, top quality cigarette lighter sockets, permanently attached plastic socket protectors, the yellow powder coated metal housing, a top quality float battery charger and a padded carry bag with shoulder strap. These batteries are for those who demand the most of a portable battery and want it to have high end features. The 2081 has 2 cigarette lighter jacks and the 2082 has 4, each one individually fused with a circuit breaker. There is an LCD display to indicate remaining voltage. Pressing the interrupter switch will give the state of charge of the battery. They have the muscle to meet the demands of the modern amateur astronomer / imager. They are rugged, beautifully made and reliable. With proper care they will last for 5 years or 500 charges, whichever comes first. We supply a float charger with these batteries. When your battery dies, do not throw it away! The battery cell is replaceable! (see our products CPP-BATTERY 18 and CPP-BATTERY 33 farther down the page). IMPORTANT NOTE: Do not discharge these batteries below 11.7 volts as they will be damaged internally. When charging the battery, be sure to plug the charger into the battery first, then into a wall socket. Failure to do this will result in the battery failing to charge. The charger will never overcharge the battery and may be left plugged into the battery for extended periods of time without harming the battery. We have a 6 amp float charger available that will charge the 2082 battery in 5 to 6 hours (not recomended for the 2081). Customers outside of North America will need to choose a battery charger with a plug that is appropriate for their country (see the shopping cart below). NEVER use a automotive charger to charge these batteries. It will ruin the battery. Automotive chargers charge at a higher voltage than other battery chargers. If the charger charges at 14.8 volts or higher, the electrolyte will begin to turn to gas and ruin the battery. In a normal car battery this is not a problem as the battery can be topped up. In a sealed battery (which ours is) the electrolyte that turns to gas will be vented through its seals and cannot be replaced. Each battery is shipped in a heavy duty shipping box. Customers are requested to keep this box in case the battery should ever need to be returned for maintenance or warranty replacement. Please be aware that Kendrick will only honor a warranty for a battery that is shipped to us in its original box. The battery is under warranty for three months from date of shipping. The rest of the battery pack is under warranty for 6 months after the date of purchase. Consequential damages for malfunctions, resulting from accident, misuse, abuse, failure to follow operating instruction, or unauthorized repairs will void this warranty. BATTERIES MUST BE RETURNED IN THEIR ORIGINAL SHIPPING BOX FOR WARRANTY REPAIRS/REPLACEMENT. Warranties for batteries will only be honored on batteries shipped in their original packaging.

STANDARD 18 AMP HOUR BATTERY

12 volt 18 amp hour Power Pack Like all our batteries, the standard Kendrick Power Pack is a high quality sealed Absorbed Glass Mat battery. It comes in a padded soft shell carrying case with an adjustable shoulder strap for comfortable transport. Also included is a .750ma float charger. It is fused at 10 amps and is equipped with a cigarette lighter socket. As previously stated this battery does not have a memory so intermittent charging will not affect it. Actually, we recommend it. NEVER use a automotive charger to charge this battery. It will ruin the battery. Automotive chargers charge at a higher voltage than other battery chargers. If the charger charges at 14.8 volts or higher, the electrolyte will begin to turn to gas. In a normal car battery this is not a problem as the battery can be topped up. By adding up the amp hour rating of our heaters indicated on our Dew Remover page, one can determine how long this battery will last before it needs charging. Please remember that the total amperage of the heaters should be halved, because under almost all conditions the controller will be set at its low setting, which effectively turns off the heaters 60 to 50% of the time. You will need to know the draw of any other items that are to be powered by the battery to make this calculation accurate.

As an example, an 8" SCT with a corrector plate heater , finder scope heater and eyepiece heater would draw about 1.80 amps per hour. Divide this by two and you get .90 amps per hour. At this rate of drain one can realistically expect to get about 18 hours of service out of the battery before it needs to be charged.

The battery is under warranty for three months from date of shipping. The rest of the battery pack is under warranty for 6 months after the date of purchase. Consequential damages for malfunctions, resulting from accident, misuse, abuse, failure to follow operating instruction, or unauthorized repairs will void this warranty. BATTERIES MUST BE RETURNED IN THEIR ORIGINAL SHIPPING BOX FOR WARRANTY REPAIRS/REPLACEMENT. Warranties for batteries will only be honored on batteries shipped in their original packaging.

120 VOLT CONVERTER

We recommend, as a minimum, that a 12 amp hour rechargeable battery be used with this system. For individuals wanting to use household current, we have a 120v converter that put out 12v DC at 4.5 amps. We also have a converter that is rated at 10 amps output for. This is recommended for anyone with large power requirements.

Jim,
After using a number of your products over the past few months, I thought I'd drop you a note about their performance.

12v 33AH battery: I cannot say enough about this superior power source. When it first arrived, I thought I should field test it (essentially, beat it up). I had the LX200 12", all four of my dew heaters (on maximum), a lap top, a SCSI/parallel adapter, the Astrovid 2000 video camera, a Toshiba video monitor, an SBIG ST-7 CCD camera, and a CD player all connected to the battery and the 110v inverter. Even with all that current being pulled, I was able to observe for nearly three hours! On subsequent nights, I've been a tad more conservative and have had the 'scope and heaters last all week long before needing a recharge. The charge indicator is a great convenience, as well. I have not used the high output connections yet, however, I am considering using it to charge an electrical fence to keep those stray cats off the front porch.

All in all, Jim, I am very impressed with the quality of the workmanship and the functionality of all the products I've received from you. If they ever bestow a Nobel Prize for astronomical products, you would be a most worthy recipient.
