We now have full aperture and/or off axis filters for all the most commonly used telescopes in amateur astronomy. The cells are a sturdy 16 guage aluminum and all have three nylon thumb screws to facilitate a secure fit on the front of your telescope. The filter material itself is the famous BAADER AstroSolar Film. This film has set a new standard for white light filters and gives a very pleasing and high resolution image. The image color is a bluish white. The filters are available in photographic film also and this must be specified in the comments when ordering.
NOTE: Now you can make your own Solar Filters with the new R-60 Aluminum Rings from Kendrick
We also have 52mm and 82mm solar filters that can be installed in our Kwik Focus lens caps made to date except for those caps that have holes larger than 3" or smaller than 2". These make the Kwik Focus into an excellent off axis solar filter. The filters consist off an insert that is siliconed into one of the holes of the Kwik Focus. Into this the solar filter can then be screwed.
Note: Baader products are available to customers in North America through authorized North American Baader dealers only. Baader Astro Solar Film cannot be bought directly from Baader Planertarium.

Care and Cleaning
It is important to note that pollen granules contain aetheric oil and aetheric oil will dissove optical coatings on any optic, even very expensive optics (not just Baader Astro Solar Film). If your filter accumulates pollen, it should be carefully cleaned off at your earliest opportunity with a very soft brush or blown off with a hand operated air bulb.
The good thing about Baader film is that it is coated on both sides, so pollen accumulation will only affect one side of the filter. Consequently there is no danger to your eyes even if pollen accumalation does damage the coating.

Solar Filters and Accessories
NOTE: To ensure proper fit of the solar filter you must measure the outside diameter of the front opening of the telescope, binoculars or lens. To convert imperial measurements to metric, multiply your OD measurement that is in inches by 25.4
NOTE: The Baader Turbo Film is an optically clear filter material normally used as a dust shield. It is not meant as a solar filter.

|
Kendrick is now offering a full line of finished R-60 Aluminum Rings to our customers who wish to make their own solar filters or create their own Kwik Focus for sharp focus when astro imaging or for visual observing.
R-60 Aluminum Rings include:
- 1 x Powder coated aluminum ring
- 3 x Nylon thumb screws
- 3 x Felt tabs
- 1 x Instruction sheet
All our R-60 rings are powder coated off-white and come with three nylon thumb screws to allow for secure attachment to your telescope. Our rings are built in 10mm increments, from 66mm to 405mm. We also have a ring to fit 435mm to 445mm. To determine which ring you will need, measure the outside diameter of your telescope tube in millimeters (or convert inches to decimal, X" x 25.4 = millimeters) and order the ring that most closely matches your dimensions. If your telescope tube diameter is identical to the widest measurement of the ring, we recommend you go up to the next size. The thumb screws will take up any slack that may exist.

| SUN FINDER |
 |
Fits over your Telrad and also fits most finder scopes. A small hole on the front plate of the Sun Finder (in between the two larger holes in the photograph) projects a pinpoint of light against the edge of the finder if you are off center from the sun. Your telescope is manouvered until the pinpoint of light is properly centred on the back plate of the Sun Finder. A pin on the back plate, not clearly seen in this photograph, can be adjusted to accurately collimate your sun finder. When the sun's pinpoint image is projected onto this point you are assured accurate Solar alignment. Finding the sun literally takes only a few seconds when using the Sun Finder. The Sun finder can be left on permanently on you Telrad as it does not affect it's night time performance.
This is much easier than trying to use your telescopes shadow to centre the sun, and much faster.
